About La Sqala – Where flavors and memories collide La Sqala was founded by husband and wife team Sifdin and Lamia, who translated their love of Mediterranean cuisine into a unique space in the heart of Zwolle. During their travels and visits to the historic La Sqala in Casablanca—an iconic place where tradition, hospitality, and flavors converge—the idea for their own version of this warm and colorful concept was born. When they discovered a characteristic basement building with steps leading down to it in Zwolle, they immediately felt the magic. The transition from the street level to the intimate, warm atmosphere of the restaurant evoked the charm of La Sqala Casablanca. Thus, the name became both a tribute and an invitation: a gateway to flavor, ambiance, and togetherness. At La Sqala in Zwolle, the best of Southern Europe and North Africa meet in tapas form.
